FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) are strong believers in tag team wrestling as that’s one of the reasons that they left WWE for AEW. They also have a ton of respect for the legendary tag teams that have come before them.
AEW has released a new theme song for FTR and it is a tribute to the legendary tag team, the Midnight Express, as Eaton passed away earlier this year. Just by listening to a few seconds of the song, it resembles old-school 1980s wrestling.
The Midnight Express started out with Eaton and Dennis Condrey alongside their manager Jim Cornette. This is where they had a legendary feud with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) for years including in Jim Crockett Promotions. After Condrey left the promotion in 1987, he was replaced by Stan Lane.
AEW President Tony Khan commented on the song by writing on Twitter, “Ladies and gentlemen, available now as an early direct download & coming soon to Apple + Spotify, I present to you the only wrestling theme better late at night than Ben & Jerry’s, the new entrance for Dax & Cash #FTR, I like to call it: Darkside of TR.”
FTR has been losing matches as of late and while that has led to speculation about the future of their partnership, it appears with not only this new music, but also the promo they cut on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite is the start of them getting a bigger push on television.
