On Thursday, AEW taped this coming Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite from Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place.
At the tapings, Tay Conti vs. Abadon in a singles match took place, but there was a scary moment in the contest as it was reported that Abadon suffered a serious injury that caused her to be hospitalized. At the time, there was no word on the injury or what caused it.
Fast forward to today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez had a positive update and some additional details. It turns out that she took an elbow shot to the throat, which caused the match to be stopped after she couldn’t breathe. AEW sent her to the hospital to get checked out but she was said to be fine.
There’s no word yet on if the match will air on Dynamite.
Alvarez stated, “Abadon got injured in the match with Tay Conti. Something happened and she took an elbow to the throat and couldn’t breathe. Obviously, they stopped the match immediately and they got her to the hospital and apparently, she will be fine. So, it was very scary, but that’s what happened in that match.
Abadon made her promotional debut when she lost to AEW Women's World Champion Hikaru Shida on AEW Dark back in March. She then picked up five straight wins since that time all on Dark except for her match against Anna Jay on an episode of Dynamite.
