Hikaru Shida clarifies her comments about AEW’s Owen Hart Cup tournament

UPDATE: Shida posted the following:

ORIGINAL: Tonight on AEW Rampage, it was announced by Tony Schiavone that Hikaru Shida is injured and will not face Red Velvet next Friday in the Owen Cup Tournament.

The Baddies expected Velvet to get a bye in the tournament but Schiavone announced that Kris Statlander will take Shida’s place. Shida reacted to the news on Twitter and she seemed to be legitimately upset.

However, it should be noted that Rampage was taped on Wednesday night after Dynamite so she could have reacted before tonight’s broadcast. Her tweet was only posted after the segment aired on TNT. While not confirmed, this looks like it could be an angle with Shida returning with some backup to take on The Baddies.

Shida tweeted, “Well…. I already had 4 matches after the street fight and just finished the greatest fighting musical show. But I seem to have been injured… Japanese wrestling is nothing for them. I’m so sorry.
And sorry couldn’t be in the tournament too.”

“I’m glad from my heart that Kris is in the tournament now. And I’m gonna try to enjoy sudden holidays in Japan because it has been a while before I had. Be positive!”
