AEW star Saraya recently disclosed on her show, “Rulebreakers with Saraya,” that she declined a proposed romantic storyline during her time with All Elite Wrestling. The angle would have involved fellow AEW talent Matt Menard, also known as “Daddy Magic.”
Saraya explained her decision stemmed from a long-standing personal principle to avoid on-screen romantic entanglements, especially as it involved kissing while she was in a relationship.
“In AEW, there’s a wrestler called Daddy Magic. They wanted me to do a love storyline with him,” Saraya stated. “I’ve managed to go my whole career without doing a love storyline, and I wasn’t going to start it.” She detailed the specific request and her discomfort: “They were like, ‘No, all he’s going to do is kiss you.’ I had a boyfriend at the time, and I was just like, ‘I can’t do it, you guys. I just can’t do it’, so I turned it down.”
Saraya emphasized her boundary, adding, “If I have to kiss someone and I have a boyfriend, I just don’t think it’s appropriate.” While she turned down the angle, Saraya had positive words for her colleague. “I love Daddy Magic, good guy, but I couldn’t do it,” she said. She noted this was a rare instance of her declining a storyline based on this personal preference.
