Colten Gunn has been medically cleared to return to the ring after more than eight months away from AEW competition, with his father, Billy Gunn, confirming the news during a virtual signing.
Billy Gunn provided the update during a virtual signing with Signed By Superstars when asked about his son’s status. “He just got cleared yesterday, so he’s good,” Billy Gunn said.
Colten suffered the knee injury in July 2025 during a four-way tag match on Collision that also featured Gates of Agony, Big Bill and Bryan Keith, and Lio Rush and Action Andretti. The injury proved costly in terms of timing, as The Gunns had been slated to participate in a Tag Team title eliminator tournament to determine who would challenge The Hurt Syndicate at Forbidden Door 2025. His clearance now raises the possibility of an imminent AEW return for both Colten and the tag team as a unit.
The Gunns, Colten and his brother Austin, are former AEW Tag Team Champions, having held the titles for 56 days in 2023. The championships are currently held by FTR. The brothers are members of The Bang Bang Gang alongside Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Ace Austin, a faction that has been impacted by injuries. White, the group’s leader, has been sidelined since March 2025 due to hand and shoulder injuries, leaving the faction without its top star for an extended stretch.
No official date for Colten Gunn’s return to AEW television has been announced at this time.
