Injured AEW Star Expected To Make Return Soon

An AEW star who has been on the sidelines for months is expected to be returning soon.

That star is Powerhouse Hobbs, who has been away since a February episode of AEW Dynamite when he worked with IWGP World Champion Jon Moxley. This is where Hobbs sustained a legitimate knee injury.

Hobbs signed with AEW in 2020 when he lost his debut match to Orange Cassidy on an episode of AEW Dark. He later became a TNT Champion. Hobbs had surgery in April and was expected to miss considerable time from in-ring action.

Fightful reported in late September that Hobbs was also at AEW All Out weekend and is back on the road with AEW. They also noted that Hobbs was cleared to return to the ring in the last few weeks.

According to the report, Hobbs underwent extensive in-ring testing before being cleared and was waiting on creative. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shared the latest on what he has heard about Hobbs.

Meltzer stated, “He’s cleared. He should be back anytime now…. A knee injury, right? I think it was.”
