Injured AEW star Brian Cage has provided a detailed update on his recovery, revealing in a new interview that he underwent surgery on both of his knees after an unexpected injury changed his plans.
A Double Dose Of Surgery
While speaking with Wombreezy and The Magic Of Wrestling, Cage explained that his right knee had been an issue for about 18 months, and his plan was to have surgery to fix it after the All In: Texas pay-per-view. However, those plans changed when he tore his left knee at the end of March.
“Unfortunately, I tore this knee at the end of March… While I was already out and it sucked, I was like, I really wanted the right knee down anyways,” Cage said. “I go, you know what, it’s going to suck, but let’s just do it now. I went and had the right one done, which has not been fun at all.”
Cage Keeping Return Timeline A Secret
Cage described the recovery process as a “struggle” but said he is getting through it. As for when fans can expect to see him back in an AEW ring, he is choosing to keep that information to himself, because he wants his return to be a surprise.
“I am not giving anyone any dates or times,” Cage stated. “I know when I want to be back, I know when I think I’ll be back, but I don’t want anybody to have any sort of expectations or more so any sort of anticipation for that day. I want it to be a complete surprise.”
Cage’s absence has been felt in the powerhouse division of AEW. In recent months, titles like the TNT Championship have seen significant changes, with Adam Cole recently vacating the title due to his own injury and Daniel Garcia winning it in a four-way match at All In.
