Injured AEW Star Is ‘Still A Long Way Away’ From Returning

There is news regarding the status of two AEW names following announcements made over the weekend. It was announced during the AEW Worlds End Zero pre-show on Saturday that El Clon will be making his return to AEW Collision next year in January.

While El Clon is set to come out on television again soon, the wrestler he has been linked to, Hologram, is not expected back in the ring in the immediate future. Bryan Alvarez reported on the situation regarding Hologram’s recovery from physical issues.

“Hologram is still a long way away from returning,” Alvarez wrote.

The story between the two began when El Clon was built up with vignettes for several weeks starting in August. These segments caused Hologram visible stress and discomfort as the two were set to feud. However, plans changed after Hologram was attacked backstage by Kyle Fletcher in September. Following the attack, Tony Khan announced that Hologram would be out of action for the rest of 2025.

Hologram was originally set to challenge Fletcher for the TNT Championship just days before he suffered an injury, leading to him being replaced by Orange Cassidy in the match. Fletcher retained the title after El Clon, who was wearing Hologram’s attire, interfered in the match. It was later revealed that not only was it El Clon who impersonated Hologram, but he had also joined the Don Callis Family. Since that debut, El Clon has been seen as a member of the heel faction but has yet to wrestle a match.

Looking ahead to the announced return, the first AEW Collision of 2026 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 3, live from the Esports Stadium Arlington in Arlington, TX. Before that, the company will present AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash on December 31 in Omaha, NE.
