Insight Into How the Creative Team in AEW Operates

It’s an interesting time for AEW as they are about to launch its new weekly two-hour Saturday night show, Collision, next month, in addition to having the return of CM Punk and officially announcing a new media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery next week.

AEW already has a lot of content to produce every week and will have more coming their way. A recent hiring for the creative team in AEW has brought attention to the process of creative.

Will Washington, who previously worked for Fightful, was hired to work directly under AEW President Tony Khan regarding creative, where he is responsible for long-term stories and continuity as well.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer gave some insight into how the creative team works. Washington had his first meeting last week and has a seat at the table to speak.

Khan outlines the show as the booker. The two key people helping Khan book are QT Marshall and Sonjay Dutt. Pat Buck, Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels, Dean Malenko, and Washington were also at the meeting to give input.

Of course, top stars such as Kenny Omega, MJF, Chris Jericho, The Young Bucks, Jon Moxley the Young Bucks, Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, FTR, and others have input into their own programs as well.
