Jake Hager's third MMA fight ends in a no contest at Bellator 231

Jake Hager's fight on Friday night ended in a no-contest due to low blows.

In the opening bout of Bellator 231 from the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, Hager took on Anthony Garrett. Unfortunately for Hager and his opponent, the fight was stopped in the first round after Hager landed a hard knee to the groin. It was the second low blow and it was declared unintentional by referee Dan Mirgliotta so the fight was declared a no contest.

Hager had some AEW friends with him to cheer him on. Inner Circle members Santana, Ortiz and Sammy Guevara were sitting cageside for the fight and an AEW logo was shown on Hager's banner with his sponsors.

Hager is now 2-0 with one no contest on the record. The unsatisfactory ending for the fight would lead one to believe that Bellator will look to book a rematch at some point.

Hager had extra pressure on him since he's been touted as a badass undefeated MMA fighter on AEW television. The no-contest may actually help him on AEW TV since they can play off the low blows in his matches.
