Jim Cornette: Lio Rush Would “Be One Of The Hottest Managers In The History Of The Business, If I Was The Booker”

During a comprehensive review of the All Elite Wrestling roster on his “Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru” podcast last week, Jim Cornette singled out Lio Rush as a performer with extraordinary, and perhaps underutilized, potential as a top-tier manager. While deciding which wrestlers he would theoretically “keep” for a new promotion, Cornette was emphatic about retaining Rush, envisioning a specific, non-wrestling role for him.

When Rush’s name was brought up, Cornette immediately stated, “No, keep that little weasel.” He then elaborated on what he sees as Rush’s key attributes that would make him successful in a different capacity than his current in-ring role. “He can talk, and he could work, and he’s got something,” Cornette acknowledged, recognizing Rush’s all-around talent.

Cornette added, “He would again, be one of the hottest managers in the history of the business, if I was the Booker,” Cornette declared.

In recent weeks, Rush has been featured as an active in-ring competitor, aligned with Action Andretti as the duo “CRU.” Most recently, at AEW’s Fyter Fest on June 4, Rush interrupted a promo by Will Ospreay, which led to an impromptu and highly-praised singles match between the two later that night.

Cornette’s assessment suggests that while Rush is a gifted wrestler, his charisma and proven microphone skills could be his most valuable assets if leveraged to elevate other talent.
