Jim Ross revealed he is preparing to leave Florida and return to Oklahoma later this year. “I’m moving toward that Oklahoma move,” Ross said on the Grilling JR podcast. When asked if he was going home, he added, “I am going home. I love it. Yeah, I’m going back to Oklahoma.”
Why Oklahoma
Ross cited his support system and access to longtime physicians as key factors. “I got my buddies there, and a lot of—not a lot of them, but several of them—are doctors. I don’t have to get accustomed or acquainted with new physicians and all that stuff,” he said. He also noted his health status: “I feel a lot better, don’t have any lingering issues… all I want to hear is you’re cancer free, and that’s what the verdict has been the last several weeks.”
Timing and Housing Details
Ross said the move will happen “sometime this year,” adding that the market conditions are favorable. “I think I got a new real estate agent to sell my condo here in Jacksonville,” he said. “I bought this place, I pay cash for it, so I’ll be getting a nice check… the housing market for my meetings is healthy right now… I know what the properties around me, like next door and two doors down, have sold for in the last month, and it’s all good numbers.”
Balancing AEW Duties
Ross plans to continue his part-time AEW commentary schedule during the transition. “I like my part-time schedule—that’s to keep my batteries charged. I like working for Tony Khan, because he’s always been fair and civil to me,” he said. Discussing his current deal, Ross added, “I think my contract’s up in August… I’m not planning on going anywhere.”
Upcoming Travel and Commitments
Before the move, Ross is headed to London to call matches at AEW’s Forbidden Door at the O2 Arena. He also expressed interest in calling a show during AEW’s residency at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena: “I don’t think I’ve ever called a match there… I’d love to call a match or two or a show or whatever at 2300 Arena.”
What’s Next for Jim Ross
Ross said he plans to attend Oklahoma football games this fall and maintain select live appearances. “I’m going to be at WrestleCade in Winston-Salem,” he noted, adding, “and I’m doing a show in Pittsburgh in December.”
