WWE Hall of Famer and legendary announcer Jim Ross has named “Timeless” Toni Storm as his current AEW “MVP.” He praised the reigning AEW Women’s World Champion for her creativity, her unique character, and her “old school throwback” presentation, calling her his favorite performer on the roster right now.
The “Timeless” Toni Storm character, a black-and-white delusional starlet from a bygone era of Hollywood, has become one of the most entertaining and fully realized acts in modern professional wrestling. Her nuanced character work, combined with her excellent in-ring skills, has garnered widespread acclaim from fans and critics.
“My Favorite AEW Wrestler Right Now”
While previewing the upcoming Forbidden Door pay-per-view on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross took a moment to single out Storm for her incredible work. He highlighted her deep involvement in her own creative process as a key to her success.
“I think Toni Storm is my MVP. I like she’s my favorite AEW wrestler right now. She’s just, she books a lot of her own stuff, and she’s creative as hell in match, creative like, like an agent would do… Tony Storm is something special. She’s my MVP. I have, I can’t remember her having a non-entertainment outing on television. She’s just really, really creative.”
An Old School Throwback
Ross, a well-known purist of the sport, sees Storm as a modern performer with an old-school sensibility. He also briefly mentioned and dismissed his past on-air issue with her husband, Juice Robinson, noting that it is all in the past.
“She’s just really, really good. Everything I watched last night, she came out to the ringside, and it was the whole presentation, her facials, her physicality, that when she got involved, she’s just, she’s an old school throwback that is, like I said, my MVP of AEW right now, and I’m happy that she’s doing well. She’s a real nice person.”
“Timeless” Toni Storm is set to defend her AEW Women’s World Championship against the former ROH Women’s World Champion, Athena, at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. The event takes place on Sunday, August 24th, at the O2 Arena in London, England.
