Joey Janela has addressed being pulled from last week’s AEW Dynamite episode due to COVID-19 concerns.

About an hour before the show went live on TNT, All Elite Wrestling announced on Twitter that Janela wouldn’t be working the show because he had been exposed to a known COVID-19 positive person at an independent show.

Thus, his planned match against Kenny Omega as part of the World Title Eliminator tournament was changed. Sonny Kiss replaced him in the contest. Omega went over in the match to advance to the semi-finals.

Janela’s last match took place at the GCW The Last Resort event last week. His opponent at the show, AJ Gray, has already announced that he tested positive for the illness.

Janela took to Twitter to note that not only does he not have the virus, but has never tested positive for it. He wrote the following:

"I don't have Covid never did, I'm sure it tried to live rent free in me a few times and dipped out because my insides resemble a permanent crack den at the Red Roof Inn."
