Jon Molxey On Bryan Danielson: I Took That Piece Off The Board And It Is Not A Part Of The Game Anymore

Bryan Danielson lost the AEW World Title to Jon Moxley at the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view event. Per the stipulation, Danielson will have to retire from full-time wrestling.

Post-match, Moxley was going to put a plastic bag over Danielson, but Wheeler Yuta and Darby Allin made the save. Yuta laid out with Allin with a running knee before Yuta put the bag over Danielson’s head, and Danielson was stretchered out of the arena.

While appearing on Youngstown Studio, Moxley praised Danielson, noting how lucky he is to be his teammate and work alongside him. He said that Danielson is probably the greatest pure wrestler in the world.

Moxley stated, “All that being said, Bryan Danielson is not on the board anymore. I took that piece off the board and it is not a part of the game anymore. Some people might not be happy about that, and they might voice their displeasure about that, and they might shower me with vitriol about that, but I can handle that because there are some things that just have to be done, and somebody has got to do them. Someone has to have the constitution to be able to handle that vitriol and to be able to put themselves in a position to weather that storm, to stand tall in the rain and the wind, and the ice and the hail, and just to take whatever comes because there are things that somebody has to do. If people were shocked or appalled or felt that something crossed the line or was too shocking, well you’re gonna have to go and buy the replay on Bleacher Report or whatever it is. You’re gonna have to go and judge for yourself. You know, really look at the whole story and the whole context, and you tell me if that wasn’t entirely necessary. What would you do if you were in my position? It was just wanting violence for the sake of violence or was this just to move your pieces forward? Some pieces gotta get knocked off the board to achieve the objective, and there are things that need to be done, and I am moving pieces around the board, and that makes people uncomfortable, then so be it.”
