AEW President Tony Khan made two announcements during an appearance on Friday’s Busted Open Radio. The first announcement is AEW Dynamite will air on Saturday, June 26th instead of a Friday night timeslot that week.
Also, on June 26th, Kenny Omega will defend the AEW World Heavyweight Title against Jungle Boy.
The match had been originally advertised for next week, but since the show is going to be taped with no fans, it made more sense to move the match back so they could have fans in attendance for the Jungle Boy, who is over in a big way with the fans as a babyface.
The young AEW star earned this title match opportunity by outlasting several wrestlers including Christian Cage to win the Casino Battle Royale at Double Or Nothing. On that same show, Omega retained the AEW Title by defeating PAC and Orange Cassidy in a triple threat match.
Dynamite has been and will continue to be pre-empted due to TNT’s coverage of the NBA Playoffs. Dynamite will air on Friday nights this week and June 11th instead of its normal Wednesday slot. The night of Dynamite for the week of June 16 is still unknown whether it will air on a Friday or Saturday.
