Kenny Omega, who has not wrestled since December 2023 after being diagnosed with diverticulitis and undergoing surgery, is on a collision course with Gabe Kidd.
Omega returned to NJPW earlier this month at the Power Struggle event to shoot an angle for an upcoming match. It all started when he cut an in-ring promo and stated that he was unsure when he would be able to return before he asked, “How about January 5th?”
Later in the night, Kidd did an angle with Omega, during which he confronted Omega, leading to a brawl between the two stars. While speaking with NJPW, Omega said he would face Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty. It should be noted that Omega did state that he is not currently medically cleared.
“I’ve had time to reflect after Power Struggle, and I feel I would regret not being able to make things right. I would hate for this situation to cause a rift between AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. So after conversations I’ve had with President Tanahashi and other executives in NJPW, I’ve decided that if New Japan requests it, if Gabe requests it, and if the fans want it, then I will wrestle Gabe Kidd, as a professional at Wrestle Dynasty January 5.”
Wrestlers from NJPW, AEW, Stardom, CMLL, and ROH will be featured at the Wrestle Dynasty event at the Tokyo Dome on January 5.
