Kenny Omega has added his voice to the growing praise for AEW’s approach to ticket pricing, saying the company’s commitment to keeping live events affordable for families and fans of all backgrounds is something he is genuinely proud of.
Speaking with CBC News Manitoba ahead of Wednesday’s Dynamite in Winnipeg, Omega positioned AEW as a unique alternative in the wrestling landscape and said the affordability of its live shows is a defining characteristic that sets the company apart.
“We’re sort of like the alternative, we’re not quite WWE and we’re not an indie either, we’re just AEW,” Omega said. “What we try to be is the most fun live show that you can watch available to you. I do think that for family friendly shows, mostly family friendly, ticket prices are absolutely friendly. We never skimp on the content. You’ll always get a ton of wrestling for your money value. You are getting a whole heck of a lot of AEW and you’re not having to mortgage your first house or sell off your first child.”
Omega was careful to frame his comments as a statement of AEW’s values rather than a criticism of other promotions. “That’s not even a knock on any of the other promotions or anything,” Omega said. “If you want to check out a television product and see yourself on TV and have fun and see what makes AEW so special, you can do it and you can do it at an affordable price. I’m just really glad that if there’s any interest whatsoever, whether it be because you’re a diehard AEW fan or you just want to go out and check out a night of wrestling or something fun with the family or friends, I’m glad that there is price point options available for all walks of life. That’s one thing I’m very proud of with AEW.”
Omega is currently the number one contender for MJF’s AEW World Championship and will challenge for the title at Dynasty on April 12.
