AEW star Kota Ibushi appeared to suffer an injury during the AEW Collision tapings on October 8 in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident occurred during his scheduled match against Josh Alexander.
According to fan reports from the taping, the apparent injury happened when Ibushi fell from the turnbuckle to the outside of the ring. The match was stopped as medical officials checked on him at ringside. A video posted to X from a fan in attendance showed Ibushi being placed on a stretcher and taken away from the ringside area to an ambulance.
This latest incident adds to a difficult history of injuries for the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. Ibushi was famously sidelined for nearly two years after suffering a severe shoulder dislocation in the finals of the NJPW G1 Climax tournament in October 2021. His return to wrestling in March 2023 was highly anticipated, but his time since has been hampered by other injuries, including significant damage to both of his ankles during a match for Pro Wrestling NOAH in January 2024.
Ibushi officially signed with AEW in July 2023, though his appearances for the company have been limited due to his injury history. In August 2025, he announced that he had signed a new two-year contract extension with AEW. The match against Josh Alexander at the Collision taping was part of his most recent run of activity for the promotion.
The nature and severity of this apparent new injury are not known at this time. We wish Kota Ibushi a full and speedy recovery. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
