Kurt Angle offers advice to AEW following news of their TV deal with TNT

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle was recently interviewed by where he spoke about a wide range of pro wrestling topics. During the interview, Angle spoke with AEW getting a television deal and how they’ll compare to WWE.

This comes after AEW officially announced their partnership with WarnerMedia. This deal, which was announced on Wednesday, will see multi-platform access for fans to watch AEW events, airing live weekly matches on TNT in prime time, as well as streaming them through WarnerMedia’s B/R Live and on pay-per-view.

“You know, I’m always for a company starting up and giving the wrestlers more options, but I can tell you this, I believe AEW’s going to have a great run. Just like TNA did at one point, just like WCW is doing. You know, even Ring of Honor had, you know, there were times where they had really good runs. But your not going to catch the WWE. And if you’re going to try you’re probably gonna spend a lot of money that you shouldn’t have spent.”

This is where Angle offered some advice to AEW officials about not spending big money and that they will not catch WWE so don’t try to get on the same level. Instead, try to be the #2 company in the pro wrestling business.

“I know this first hand. ‘Cause I remember when TNA tried to start going ratings for ratings with WWE and all we did is lose a bunch of money. And so I think AW, they have some good people there that probably can keep that company open and alive for awhile, but I think they should be prepared to understand that they’re going to be number two. If they want to be number one, you know, so be it.”

“Go ahead, spend your money, see if you can do it, but I highly doubt that anybody’s going to catch WWE. Especially now. They’re so global. It’s like a snowball rolling down a mountain of snow. Just getting bigger and bigger. It’s not getting any smaller anytime soon. It keeps getting bigger.”
