Kyle Fletcher Explains Why He Signed With AEW Instead Of WWE

New AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher has opened up about his decision to sign with All Elite Wrestling in 2023, revealing that while interest from WWE was “mind-blowing,” he is confident he made the right choice.

Kyle Fletcher Found WWE Interest ‘Mind-Blowing’

Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful in a new interview, Fletcher was asked about the interest he and his Aussie Open tag team partner, Mark Davis, received from WWE before they signed with AEW.

“Kind of mind-blowing. Coming up and being a fan of WWE, just the fact that they were like, ‘We want to talk to you and get on a Zoom call with you,’” Fletcher said. “It was weird to let that sink in. ‘Ah, okay, I guess I’m a real wrestler now.’”

Why Fletcher Chose To Sign With AEW

Despite the interest from WWE, Fletcher explained that the “vibe” and the way Tony Khan treated them during their previous appearances made AEW feel like the right home for them to grow as performers.

“It was the fact that we [Aussie Open] had come in before signing, and we kind of understood the vibe and how Tony treated us and other people,” he stated. “We trusted that it would be the best place for us to grow. The way I’m standing here today, we made the right choice.”

Fletcher’s decision to sign with AEW has paid off, as he has since evolved into one of the company’s top singles stars. After his partner, Mark Davis, was sidelined with an injury, Fletcher joined the Don Callis Family and recently captured his first singles title in AEW.

Fletcher made his first defense of the TNT Championship on Saturday’s Collision. The full interview with Kyle Fletcher can be found on Fightful’s YouTube channel.
