At only 26 years old, AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher has surrounded himself with some of the most experienced minds in wrestling, including Don Callis and MVP. In an interview on “TMZ Inside The Ring,” Fletcher spoke about the advice he gets from veterans.
He called having Don Callis as a manager “so valuable” for the advice he provides. He also detailed his relationship with MVP, which he said “started very organically”.
“I think there were a couple of times where I would come back from a match… and he’d just be in the vicinity, and I’d ask him nicely, did you see any of it?” Fletcher said. “And yeah, he was super cool. And just like taking the time to dissect some things and praise some other things… the biggest piece of advice that he, kind of, I feel like, gives me all the time, really is just to is to believe that I am a star, and to kind of like, not let other people try and Warhol over me, and to really try and present myself a certain way… He calls me a superstar every time he sees me, because that’s what he thinks of me as, which is kind of cool to get that kind of praise from someone like that”.
Fletcher was also asked to identify the locker room leaders in AEW. “I don’t necessarily like the term, locker room leader, because it’s not like one person stands in the middle of the locker room every time and goes like, clean up your trash doesn’t really exist nowadays,” he explained. “I think there are certain people that everyone else just looks to and respects, and it’s a very natural and organic thing”.
He then named two specific people. “I think the one that is the most obvious right now is maybe like MOX. MOX is just one of those people who live and breathe AEW and just want it to succeed more than anything. And he is always another one of those people who is always around and always there to offer some super cool insight… Another one is Orange Cassidy. Since coming back, he’s been in it. He’s been a great guy that people can look to and really respect and lead by example, really”.
