Lance Archer on his main goal in AEW, wrestlers paying attention to the TV ratings

AEW star Lance Archer appeared on Busted Open Radio this week.

Here are some transcribed highlights from the interview and make sure to listen to the entire show on Sirius XM radio.

Lance Archer was asked what he has his sights on and what plans AEW might have for him: “For me, it’s always just taking your time.  Biding your time.  Do what you can when you can with what you got.  The things we had the opportunity to do with the backstage vignettes, throwing guys into the ceiling, trash cans, lockers and everything I could find to put them in and through, that itself has been fun for me.  It’s just working our way back into the main spot.  When you ask what’s my plan, my plan has always been the top of AEW.  Whoever the AEW Champion is, whether that’s John Moxley or MJF.  Now Brodie Lee is the TNT Champion.  Whatever and whoever is at the top is what we are gunning for.  It’s one of those things where we are taking our time.  It’s going to happen.  Everybody needs to be patient.  I appreciate the support out there.  The little murder hawks are excited and want to see me kick some ass. I’m coming.  We are going to kick some ass.  Whoever is at top better be ready.  I promise you.”

Archer was asked if the wrestlers are as in tune to the ratings every week and do they pay attention to what the competition is doing: “I think you have to be in this era of professional wrestling being that we are on TV and that’s what drives the business right now, especially right now because there is no live audience.  That’s something you have to pay attention to.  Luckily the Demo God himself (Chris Jericho) keeps us abreast as to what is going on and where we are at and what we are doing.  Yea, I think it is absolutely one of those things discussed and understood.  Everybody is looking at ways to improve those ratings by giving the fans new and cool things every single week.  New and cool people every single week.  That’s what keeps driving the ratings.  I think that’s what helped that Saturday rating stay so strong was because you never know exactly what you are going to tune in and see.  You know from the AEW roster, the main people are going to be there and you know the main storylines but there is always something happening that you say I had no idea that was going to happen.  That’s what makes AEW so damn cool.”
