Update on Mike Tyson’s involvement with AEW
All Elite Wrestling announced on Wednesday night that boxing legend Mike Tyson will make his promotional debut at the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view.
He’ll be there to present the new AEW TNT Title to the winner of the tournament finals between Lance Archer and Cody Rhodes.
Dave Meltzer noted on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that this appearance came about one year ago after Tyson attended the 2019 Double Or Nothing pay-per-view in Las Vegas, Nevada, which was the first official event for the promotion.
Tyson was backstage and loved everything about the show, per the report. Thus, this led to him making his first appearance at this upcoming show.
Tyson, who is a huge name, doesn’t make appearances for free, but there’s no word yet on what AEW is paying Tyson for the appearance. It’s believed to not be cheap.
Meltzer brought up how AEW won’t have a live gate due to the show being moved from MGM Grand Garden Arena to an empty arena.
While this is likely a one-time appearance, it will be interesting to see if Tyson makes any other appearances going forward as he’s a big pro wrestling fan.
Another promotion has made an offer to Tyson to host his in-ring wrestling debut. For more on that, click here.
