Lio Rush returning to AEW in the near future?

AEW President Tony Khan sent out an interesting tweet on Thursday regarding Lio Rush.

Khan noted that he has been talking with Rush a lot recently about returning to the promotion. Although he didn’t confirm it would be happening, he did note that he feels like it could happen in the future.

Khan wrote, “I see a lot of tweets talking about Lio Rush today. Coincidentally, I’ve been talking to @TheLionelGreen a lot recently about returning to @AEW, and it feels like something that could happen in the near future.”

Rush made his promotional debut with AEW at the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view in May as the joker wild card in the Casino Battle Royale. He suffered a shoulder injury in the match.

Rush was not under contract with AEW at the time, but rather had a handshake deal with Khan as he was still working for NJPW. All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling also have a working relationship.

In June, Rush announced that he would retire from the pro wrestling business once his commitments with NJPW were finished. It will be interesting to see if Rush does make a return to AEW instead of retiring from wrestling.
