Major announcement coming on WWE Raw, NXT on USA Network going head to head with AEW?

As first reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there are talks ongoing to have the USA Network pick up the weekly TV series as a 2-hour show from 8 to 10 pm eastern.

The move would mean that NXT would go live every week or every other week and both hours would be in direct competition with All Elite Wrestling on TNT. This would essentially be a war similar to WWE vs. WCW in the late 90s.

The idea was to get NXT on Fox Sports 1 but that network carries Big East basketball on Wednesday night’s and would not be able to pick up NXT right away. If a deal is signed then the move to USA would happen around October 2nd or before that date to get a jump on AEW.

There is no word on if the move to USA would mean that NXT would move out of Full Sail University and become a full-time touring brand or if it will stay in Orlando. There’s also no word on what this means for the one-hour series on the WWE Network. Losing NXT on the WWE Network could have a negative impact on the WWE Network subscriber count.

Nothing is “official” yet but all signs point to a move to USA and not FS1.

For what it’s worth, JJ Williams from the Wrestling Observer website noted that a major announcement is coming this Monday night on Raw.
