Maki Itoh loves AEW, has no plans to work for WWE

In an exclusive interview for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall’s Ten Count spoke with Maki Itoh, via a translator. She talked about why she won’t work for WWE, her AEW run, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, and more.

Itoh talking about why she likes to sing while coming to the ring:

Maki Itoh’s translator said, ‘In case some of you don’t know, she used to be an Idol performing in Japan. Things happened. She got fired and she wanted to bring her previous career into her wrestling persona.”

On how she got hooked up with AEW:

“There was a tournament for the AEW Women’s Championship a few years ago. Maki was introduced to the AEW audience in this tournament in the first round. While unfortunately, she did lose in the first round, everybody really liked her personality as a character, so the team at AEW wanted to bring her in.”

On if WWE has made her any offers:

“No. One of the reasons why she has become this popular is thanks to AEW. Whatever happens, even if WWE gave her an offer from nowhere, she would not accept it and she would just stay beside AEW all the way.”
