Mark Briscoe on Continuing His Career: “I Got to Carry On”

As AEW prepares for its massive All In Texas pay-per-view, legendary tag team wrestler Mark Briscoe is focused on honoring the legacy of his late brother, Jay Briscoe, and forging his own path as a singles star. In a recent interview with Emily Mae for WrestlingNews.co, Briscoe discussed his motivation, his connection with the fans, and his mindset heading into this Saturday’s high-stakes Casino Gauntlet match.

“I Got to Carry On”

When asked what it means to represent the Briscoe name on such a huge stage, Mark opened up about his decision to continue wrestling after his brother’s tragic passing. “Since my brother passed, you know, my first thought was, you know, I can’t, I can’t do this no more by myself,” Briscoe admitted. “But… it was maybe, I don’t know, 20 minutes, 25 minutes… I got, I got to carry on. He would float down here and smack me right up beside my head if I just up and quit.”

His goal now is to introduce a new generation of fans to the work he and his brother created. “I really want people now to see me and to see my work, and to go back and look for some old Briscoe brother stuff… and at that point, their mind will be blown, because, you know, there was never nothing like Dem boys,” he said.

The Casino Gauntlet and MJF

At All In, Briscoe will enter the Men’s Casino Gauntlet match at number one, with his first opponent being the number two entrant, MJF. Briscoe made it clear he has a specific game plan for his initial opponent.

“The main thing I’m focused on is I’m the number one man… the number two man… is MJF,” Briscoe stated. “So at least for a short period of time, if before the number three man shows up, I’m going to give him a butt-whooping like he ain’t never experienced… I’m going to beat the crap out of MJF.”

A World Title Shot on the Line

The winner of the Casino Gauntlet match will receive a future shot at the AEW World Championship, a prize that Briscoe has his sights set on. “I wanted to be a pro wrestler ever since I was a little kid,” he shared. “When I was saying my prayers at night, I’d say, ‘Lord, please let me be a pro wrestler when I grow up.’ Here I am all grown up, now I’m a pro wrestler. And you know, the top prize in the game is the AEW World Title.”

Mark Briscoe is scheduled to be the first entrant in the Men’s Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In: Texas this Saturday. The winner of the match will earn a future opportunity to challenge for the AEW World Championship. Click here for details on how to order the event.
