Matt Hardy has been in the wrestling business for decades and during that time, he has worked for both Vince McMahon in WWE and Tony Khan in AEW.
Hardy spoke about how the AEW President is different from the WWE Chairman during an interview with Essentially Sports. He started out by talking about how AEW is very special because of the mentality AEW uses starting with Khan as it comes down to hard work and being part of the team.
“They don’t really try to force people into a hierarchy, they don’t try to reign by fear, and everyone is allowed to feel comfortable. If you have an issue, you can talk to anyone. Tony Khan is so accessible. If you need to address Tony Khan, then you can speak to him, where at WWE it’s quite the opposite with Vince. Vince is very hard to be able to speak with. Tony, I just feel like Tony has the current mindset of a wrestling fan in 2021.”
Hardy continued by talking about how Khan makes his mindset come alive through wrestlers and the product. He also praised AEW for being a comfortable family environment where everyone feels like if you need to speak out then you can.
“They’re both ridiculously hard workers. There’s no doubt about that. Vince works his a** off. No one can ever take that away from him. Tony does as well.”
Hardy pointed out how Khan also has other responsibilities such as working for the Jacksonville Jaguars and his Fulham soccer team. He stated that with Khan being a wrestling fan it helps translate better.
