During a recent installment of his Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy shared his thoughts on the recent WWE release of Andrade. Hardy, who has worked with Andrade in both WWE and AEW, spoke positively about him as a performer and a person while addressing the possibility of his return to AEW.
Hardy recalled his professional history with Andrade, beginning in WWE and continuing in AEW, where Andrade was integrated into his faction. “I’m going to start off by saying I like Andrade a lot. I got along very well with him. I worked with him first in WWE on the main roster. I know we worked a few times in South America. Whenever we did a South American tour, I really enjoyed them,” Hardy recalled. “Obviously, at AEW, I was paired with him. He kind of came in and joined the Hardy family office, and we made it into a conglomerate. We just joined together, and it was a little over saturated. It was a little much, and I think we both realized that kind of going in, but it is what it is.”
Beyond their in-ring work, Hardy spoke highly of Andrade as a person and acknowledged the personal challenges he has faced recently. “I do like him. I like him as a human being, and I know he’s been through some struggles. He had him, and his wife had just gotten separated, getting a divorce, so I’m sure that was very challenging for him.”
Regarding Andrade’s departure from WWE, Hardy noted he wasn’t aware of all the specific details but offered his unconditional support. “He seems to be happy that he is no longer with WWE. I do not know all the exact circumstances. I don’t know the cold, hard facts, the cold, hard truth of whatever else. But there seem to be a lot of signs throughout his being ultimately released. So all I’m going to say is that I hope he’s well, I hope he’s good, I hope he’s healthy, and I hope he’s in a good place, and I wish him all the best going forward.”
Looking to the future, Hardy believes that a return to AEW for Andrade is not out of the question, especially considering the high regard AEW President Tony Khan reportedly held for him. “If Tony Khan had that high praise for him towards the end like that, I don’t see why there wouldn’t be a path back for him to AEW. So this can be interesting to see how that turns out.”
Since his WWE release, Andrade has begun to fill his schedule with his first match booking. For more on that, click here.
