Matt Hardy teases making an ‘extreme’ change to his character

This week’s episode of AEW Rampage saw Isiah Kassidy losing to TNT Champion Sammy Guevara. Following the show, Matt Hardy took to Twitter to comment in-character about his stablemate losing the match.

This is where he dropped an interesting teaser about how it was time to stop focusing on the wrestlers he has been mentoring such as Andrade and Private Party in favor of focusing on himself.

“Maybe it’s time for me to go back to the drawing board. Maybe it’s time for me to get rich on what originally made me rich, which was me. Maybe it’s time for me to lace up my boots a little tighter. Maybe it’s time for me to adapt my old motto of fear.”

He continued by making a promise to the fans that starting February 5, 2022, “I’m gonna bust my ass. I’m gonna do everything I possibly can to take my dilapidated vessel, after all the wear and tear on my body, after my age and get into the best shape that it can possibly be in. I don’t like the direction that Matt Hardy is currently headed in AEW. If something doesn’t happen with the AHFO, something has to change. Maybe it’s time for Matt Hardy to make an extreme change.”

Matt and Jeff Hardy were also known as Team Extreme in WWE, which got fans talking when the AEW star dropped that teaser. It’s expected Jeff will reunite with his brother in AEW when his non-compete clause expires in March following his WWE departure. The Hardy Boyz have already been confirmed for a few public appearances together.
