While discussing the current landscape of professional wrestling, Maven took time to praise AEW star MJF. The Tough Enough winner shared admiration for MJF’s commitment to his character and his ability to generate genuine animosity from crowds. Speaking on TMZ Inside The Ring, Maven compared MJF to villains of a bygone era.
“No, God no, but that’s the beauty of him,” Maven said in response to the question of MJF being a babyface]. “He’s a heel that we haven’t seen since the 1970s. He’s a heel that would get chased to the parking lot after shows because he pisses that many people off… MJF can do that, but he can do it on a wide scale.”
When asked about the possibility of MJF eventually making the jump to WWE, Maven acknowledged MJF’s current allegiance but noted the realities of the wrestling business.
“Now, I don’t know. I think his loyalty to Tony Khan at this point is pretty concrete. But if you know, 49 years on earth has taught me one thing: money wins. We will see. I think he is next level. He stops me in my tracks to listen to him and to watch him.”
