Mercedes Mone believed to be joining AEW imminently

It’s looking more likely that Mercedes Mone making her AEW debut is not a matter of if but when after her talks with WWE fell through.

Past talks

As previously reported, WWE was in talks with Mone about returning. However, both sides were not in agreement on a deal, and WWE sources claimed that they were the ones to walk away from the negotiations.

The talks fell through because they were far apart on money, and there is a lot of talk about her going to AEW, so much so that it’s expected she is AEW-bound.

Arrival

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted Mone’s arrival in AEW is imminent.

“Well, the belief is that she’s imminent. The expectation is that it’s imminent. Until it happens and I hear that the contract is actually signed, I don’t take anything seriously because it’s been a year of rumors and thoughts, and nothing happened. Obviously, she’s been talking. Yes, obviously (delayed because of her injury]. Yeah, but it was months before she had the injury.”

Meltzer continued, “Yeah, but she could have signed with AEW at the time [last year]. That was not just…it was only a few dates like five shows [being under NJPW contract]. I mean, nothing precluded her from signing with AEW other than if she did, she’d give up the chance to go to WWE. She was negotiating with WWE just until recently, and who knows exactly how this will turn out. Like when she shows up and when she signs the contract, I’ll believe it. But I mean, yes, in AEW, the belief is it’s imminent. It’s probably going to happen. Everyone’s expecting it to happen. So we’ll see if and when it happens.”
