Mercedes Mone Set For ROH Television Debut And Title Defense At Final Battle
AEW star Mercedes Mone is preparing for a significant weekend in her career as she gears up for her first-ever appearance on Ring of Honor TV and a title defense at the promotion’s Final Battle pay-per-view. The self-proclaimed “CEO” will put her ROH Women’s World Television Championship on the line against former champion Red Velvet this Friday, December 5, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Ahead of the event, Mone took to social media to express her excitement, revealing a surprising personal connection to the brand. Despite her lengthy tenure in WWE and recent success in NJPW and AEW, Mone claimed she has been a follower of Ring of Honor for over two decades.
“I’ve been a fan of ROH since 2003! I can’t wait make my debut . I tried working for ROH in 2011/2012,” Mone posted on X.
A Long-Awaited Debut
Mone’s appearance on ROH TV tonight, December 4, will mark her official debut on the weekly program, a move that has drawn attention given her status as the reigning champion. Reports indicate the segment was taped following AEW Dynamite in Fishers, Indiana.
The Matchup
The bout at Final Battle serves as a rematch between Mone and Red Velvet. Mone previously defeated Velvet to unify the interim and lineal versions of the title in November, solidifying her hold on the championship. Velvet challenged Mone for the rematch during a recent episode of AEW Collision, claiming she had “left an opening” in their previous encounter.
Mone enters the contest looking to bounce back from a recent high-profile loss to Kris Statlander at AEW Full Gear, where she failed to capture the AEW Women’s World Championship.
