Mike Tyson agrees to date and opponent for his boxing return

Mike Tyson has received an opponent for his next fight after preparing for a boxing return.

Yahoo’s Kevin Iole reported Thursday that the boxing legend is slated to take on fellow boxing great Roy Jones Jr. in an eight-round exhibition match. The fight will take place on September 12th at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Although not confirmed, the belief is that it will air on pay-per-view. Per the report, there will be some MMA vs. boxing fights on the undercard.

This will mark the first fight for the 54-year-old since retiring from the sport in 2005. Talk of Tyson returning to the boxing ring started when clips of him training and looking in great shape were posted on social media.

Once Tyson announced his plans to return, it was revealed that he wanted to do so for charities to help out the homeless and people struggling with drug addiction.

Tyson made an appearance at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view event to present the TNT Championship to the winner of Cody Rhodes vs. Lance Archer. This served as the tournament finals and saw Rhodes go over to become the inaugural TNT Champion.

The following Wednesday on Dynamite, Tyson was involved in a brawl alongside some of his friends with Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle. At the time, there had been some speculation about a match between the boxing great and Jericho happening.

However, with Tyson returning to boxing competition, any plans to book such a match are on hold for now.
