MJF was on “Throwing Down w/ Renee and Miesha” to promote his Long Island homecoming on tonight’s AEW Dynamite. MJF was asked about free agency in a couple of years.
Renee Paquette said, “I hear a lot of buzz of what it could look like if you were to enter free agency. A lot of people could be calling you up on the phone. How do you feel about that? What do you want the future of MJF to look like?”
MJF responded, “It’s funny. A lot of people bring up matchups like me and The Miz, like me and Drew McIntyre, like me and Roman Reigns. Can that potentially happen if Tony Khan doesn’t shell out the right type of cash? Maybe, and that’s why by the year 2024, as I’ve stated before, it’s going to be the greatest bidding war in the history of our sport. That’s because I’m 25 years of age right now. By the time we get to 2024, I will be 27. I’m still a baby, a handsome baby, but I’m still a baby. By then, which is even harder to even fathom, I’m probably going to be, if it’s even possible or conceivable, I don’t know, but I’m probably going to be even better than I am now by some grace of God. As I’ve stated before, Tony Khan, great guy. Out of all the Khans in pro wrestling, he is easily in my top two, right next to Nick. All I want though is the right amount of money in front of me, and that’s where I go because I’m a businessman at the end of the day. I’m a businessman. That’s all I am.”
MJF wants to eventually wrestle CM Punk:
“The matchup I think everybody has been wanting to see and everybody has been dream booking, if you will, all you marks like to use that word, is definitely me vs CM Punk. Again, CM, great guy, hell of a talent. I want the match to happen too, but I’m not getting in that ring with him until I see the fire behind his eyes, until I see the CM Punk of old because that’s the match I want. I want the match against Punk at his absolute best, that way the people don’t get to make any excuses when I pin him clean in the middle of the ring.”
