With a role in the critically acclaimed film “The Iron Claw” and an upcoming part in “Happy Gilmore 2,” AEW star MJF is making inroads in Hollywood. During a recent interview, he discussed the path for wrestlers looking to transition into acting, giving credit to several modern stars for making it an easier process.
MJF Credits Modern Stars, Blasts Hulk Hogan’s Acting
While speaking to TV Insider, MJF was asked if it is simpler now for professional wrestlers to be taken seriously as actors. He agreed, naming three specific WWE legends who he believes changed the perception in Hollywood for the better.
“It’s easier because of the work that The Rock, Batista and Cena put in,” MJF stated. “Also, I feel so stupid now because Dwayne [Johnson] is also on that list I spoke about earlier too.”
However, MJF also singled out a WWE Hall of Famer for setting a poor precedent for wrestlers in film decades ago. He did not hold back in his criticism of Hulk Hogan (Terry Bollea) and his filmography from the 1990s.
“Growing up, you’re watching these guys break this mold that unfortunately Terry Bollea [Hulk Hogan] created by being one of the worst actors of all-time with Santa with Muscles, Mr. Nanny, and all that genuine garbage,” MJF said.
MJF is currently involved in a storyline with The Hurt Syndicate in AEW after aligning with the group at the Double or Nothing event in May.
