AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF worked two matches this past Saturday night at the AEW Full Gear 2023 pay-per-view event from Los Angeles at the Kia Forum.
The Gunns attacked MJF after the ROH Tag Team Title match on the pre-show with a chair after they lost to MJF and Samoa Joe. This led to MJF being rushed to the hospital. Adam Cole prevented Jay White from winning the World Heavyweight Title in a forfeit, so despite being on crutches, he said he would take on White and defend the title.
Once the bout started, MJF showed up and wrestled the match. The finish saw MJF hit White with the diamond ring for the win. The decision to have the storyline injury has been criticized by fans.
The injury
Wrestle Purists reports MJF hurt his hip in the match and needed it to be popped back in after the show. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful confirmed the hip injury on Twitter.
He was also said to have banged up his shoulder. The good news is that MJF won’t be missing any television time, although he will stay out of the ring while he heals up.
