Nick Jackson: Chris Jericho Is “A Founding Father. So Of Course We Want Him To Stay” In AEW

The Young Bucks have commented on the uncertainty surrounding Chris Jericho’s future with All Elite Wrestling. Speaking with Adam’s Apple ahead of Full Gear, Matt and Nick Jackson addressed rumors that the former AEW World Champion could be set to leave the promotion and return to WWE when his contract expires at the start of 2026.

When asked if there is anything they can do in their role as Executive Vice Presidents to convince Jericho to stay, the brothers noted that they hope to keep him on the roster but acknowledged the decision ultimately lies with him.

Nick Jackson said, “He’s a founding father. So of course we want him to stay… We’re not sure where he’s at headspace-wise right now. I know he’s, like, on a break. And he’s trying to figure it out on his own. And sometimes you gotta let a wrestler like that figure it out on his own.”

Matt Jackson added simply, “I love Chris Jericho.” Jericho was a pivotal figure in the launch of AEW in 2019 and served as the company’s inaugural World Champion. However, rumors have persisted that he may be looking to return to WWE for the first time since 2018. The wrestling veteran has been absent from AEW programming since April and has not confirmed his next move, leaving the door open for a potential departure.

Recently, Jericho made headlines for praising TNA Wrestling following their Bound for Glory event, stating that the company looked like the second-biggest promotion in the world. Despite the speculation, AEW President Tony Khan has continued to speak highly of Jericho publicly, stating that he hopes to bring the “Ocho” back to the company.
