Orange Cassidy thinks The Young Bucks wanted to sign him because his character is a giant middle finger to wrestling

ESPN has an article about the journey of working on the independent wrestling scene to making it to AEW for Orange Cassidy.

Prior to joining All Elite Wrestling, he worked for various promotions like Beyond Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling, and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla over the last decade.

His big break came when he made his promotional debut at the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view event in 2019 where he worked the Casino Battle Royale.

He later joined Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta) at ringside for their #1 contenders match against The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) at the All Out pay-per-view in August 2019.

This was after AEW’s Executive Vice Presidents The Young Bucks had pushed AEW President Tony Khan to bring in the unknown star.

“The Young Bucks were the people that were like, ‘We need to get Orange here,'” Cassidy said. “Because my character is a giant middle finger to professional wrestling, so they were like, ‘Of course, let’s get him in.'”

Since making his mark in AEW, Khan has publicly stated that he’s a big fan of Cassidy. Khan said in this interview that after Cassidy’s appearance at Double or Nothing last year, he quickly realized that there was something unique about Cassidy.

Cassidy also talked about finding his character, working with Chris Jericho, and more. You can read the entire interview here.
