AEW originally intended to announce Will Ospreay’s return to coincide with the All In 2026 ticket on-sale, but ultimately used him as a surprise at Revolution instead, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer reported that Ospreay had been medically cleared approximately two weeks before his Revolution appearance, but that the news was deliberately kept quiet. The original plan had been to reveal his return when Wembley Stadium tickets went on sale, to maximize the announcement’s impact as a promotional tool for the event. The All In 2026 pre-sale launched the day after Revolution, with the general public on-sale beginning on March 20.
The decision to use Ospreay as a surprise at Revolution altered that strategy, with the return becoming one of the show’s most talked-about moments. Ospreay confronted AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley following Moxley’s title defense against Konosuke Takeshita, setting up what figures to be a top program heading into AEW All In 2026 at Wembley Stadium on August 30.
Meltzer also noted that Ospreay’s clearance came less than six months after he underwent double fusion neck surgery, a notably fast recovery timeline for a procedure of that nature. Ospreay had been out of action since September 14, 2025, when Moxley and the Death Riders attacked him inside the cage following the 10-man lights out steel cage match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
AEW All In 2026 returns to Wembley Stadium in London on August 30. No pre-sale numbers have been reported at this time.
