Will Ospreay Reveals When He Was Medically Cleared

Will Ospreay has revealed the full timeline of his recovery from double fusion neck surgery, disclosing that he was medically cleared just 18 days before his return at AEW Revolution. Ospreay posted the timeline on Twitter, writing: “Double fusion surgery date: 17th September 2025. Got cleared: 25th February 2026. Back: 15th March 2026.”

Ospreay underwent the procedure in mid-September 2025 and spent approximately five months recovering before receiving clearance to return to in-ring competition. The narrow gap between his clearance date of February 25 and his return on March 15 indicates he wasted little time getting back once doctors gave him the green light.

Ospreay made his return at AEW Revolution on March 15 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, following the AEW Continental Championship match between Jon Moxley and Konosuke Takeshita. The two had previously fought to a 20-minute draw at AEW Rampage in Sydney, Australia, making the Revolution match the first with a definitive outcome.

Moxley retained the title in a hard-fought contest before a teaser video package reminiscent of the DC Comics character Bane aired, signaling what was to come. Ospreay then appeared on the stage, removed his shirt, and ran toward the ring. The Death Ryders attacked him, but he cleared the ring and connected with an outside dive, immediately re-establishing himself as a credible physical threat despite the months away from competition.

The return carried storyline weight. In storyline, it was Moxley who was responsible for putting Ospreay on the shelf, making the confrontation a natural continuation of their existing rivalry. With Ospreay now back and targeting the AEW Continental Championship, the feud between the two appears set to be one of AEW’s major programs heading into the coming months.

Neck injuries of this nature have ended or shortened the careers of other professional wrestlers in the past. Ospreay’s rapid return and immediate physicality upon his Revolution comeback give a big boost of star power to the promotion going into next month’s Dynasty PPV.

AEW has not yet officially announced a match between Ospreay and Moxley, but the Revolution confrontation makes the direction clear. Moxley has held the AEW Continental Championship since winning the Continental Classic tournament.
