Paul Wight Confirms AEW Status, Praises Will Hobbs’ Believability

AEW star Paul Wight recently clarified his status with the company and shared high praise for both AEW President Tony Khan’s management style and the authentic presence of fellow talent Will Hobbs. Speaking with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Wight confirmed his continued commitment to AEW.

“I am still with AEW, still very happy with AEW, very happy with Tony Khan and what he’s doing,” Wight stated. He contrasted Khan’s approach with more rigid systems: “I appreciate Tony and the way he treats his talent, and the kind of liberty that Tony gives talent to discover themselves and find themselves. It’s not a cookie cutter process in AEW. They’re not, ‘This is your ring entrance. This is how you pose. This is what you wear.’ AEW is very grassroots, authentic, and for me at this stage of the game, I appreciate that.”

Wight then singled out Will Hobbs for his compelling and believable portrayal of a tough character. “Will Hobbs is one of the few characters I see on TV that presents himself as a man in a tough guy situation where you would believe in an alley, Will Hobbs would beat the snot out of you. It’s believable,” Wight observed.

He further noted the dichotomy of Hobbs’ persona: “Now, if you’ve ever met Will Hobbs, he’s one of the kindest, nicest gentlemen you’ve ever met, but he has that presence on TV like he doesn’t care if you live or breathe. I think that’s a lost art in our business now because everyone wants to be a showman, everybody wants to be loved, everybody wants to be liked and get favorites and tweets.”
