Paul Wight has returned and joined the AEW Collision commentary team for the January 24th, 2026 episode. While the original Collision episode scheduled for Texas was canceled, tapings took place in Orlando, Florida, immediately following the January 21st episode of Dynamite. As the broadcast began, Wight joined Excalibur and Tony Schiavone to call the action on Saturday night.
Wight is no stranger to the broadcast booth, having previously served as a regular commentator on AEW Dark: Elevation. He has also made a handful of appearances over the years, lending his veteran insight to the product. His last commentary appearance dates back to the AEW Full Gear Tailgate Brawl. The Collision appearance marked his first non-PPV pre-show commentary gig since his work at AEW Battle Of The Belts XI in July 2024.
A WWE legend and former World Heavyweight Champion, Wight has not competed in the ring for some time. He last wrestled for AEW back in November 2023 against Brian Cage and The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Powerhouse Hobbs), where he teamed up with Kota Ibushi and The Golden Jets (Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega). Despite his absence from the ring and having undergone a recent back surgery, reports indicate that Wight is not yet ready to hang up his boots.
Welcome back to the commentary desk, @PaulWight!
