A longtime WWE star may end up in AEW, if some people get their way.
Fightful Select is reporting that numerous talent in AEW are hoping to see Shelton Benjamin join the company. Benjamin’s name actually came up months ago before he was released after incorrect rumors spread about his contract expiring.
For what it’s worth, AEW is said to be looking for producers so if Benjamin is not brought in as a full-time talent then he’s someone who could be very valuable behind the scenes. Benjamin is very underrated and someone who everyone got along with when he was in WWE. He was one of several people let go last week due to budget cuts related to the Endeavor merger.
There is still time before AEW can officially talk with Benjamin if there is interest because he, along with all of the main roster talent that was released, would be under a 90-day non-compete.
