PHOTO: Matt Hardy gets stitches after chair shot from Sammy Guevara on AEW Dynamite

Matt Hardy is now a full-blown storyline with Sammy Guevara on AEW television.

All Elite Wrestling did an angle on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite where the two wrestlers got into a brawl on the show that led in Guevara throwing a chair at the face of Hardy, who tried to get his hands up. As a result, Hardy had a cut on his forehead and was heavily bleeding. The angle ended when Guevara hit a dive off the stage to send Hardy through a table.

Bryan Alvarez noted on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio that Hardy got about 10 stitches for the cut and Guevara got a stern talking-to from management for the spot because he threw the chair harder than he should’ve. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Hardy got 13 stitches.

The angle didn’t originally intend to have blood as Hardy didn’t blade. Instead, he was busted open by the edge of the chair. AEW has been careful to protect wrestlers from headshots like this.

Hardy shared a photo of him getting stitched up by the doctor on Twitter with the caption, “A huge thank you to @DocSampson13 & the @AEWrestling medical team for quickly repairing the painful, gaping hole on my face. #AEWDynamite.”

Hardy also shared various camera angles of the brawl here:
