Plans for Non-AEW Wrestler to Challenge Jon Moxley Were Scrapped Due to Audible Called After Concussion

Jon Moxley made a decision on the fly to change the finish of his match last week on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam against Rey Fenix for the AEW International Title as Moxley suffered a concussion.

Moxley was rocked after Fenix hit a dive. Referee Rick Knox made the count as Fenix covered Moxley. He held up at two and a half. Fenix hit another move with the referee counting fast, making it even more clear this was not supposed to be the finish, and Fenix walked away with the title. The good news is that Moxley is okay.

Fightful Select reports that the finish being changed not only impacted that match but caused immediate changes to Dynamite and possibly WrestleDream this Sunday as original plans called for a non-AEW wrestler to come on AEW Dynamite and challenge Moxley for it at WrestleDream.

Once the match result changed, it nixed the match challenge. It’s unclear who this surprise challenger was supposed to be.
