There is a positive report regarding the status of Kyle Fletcher following a scary moment during his match at AEW Worlds End on Saturday. Bryan Alvarez is reporting that Fletcher is “apparently fine” after his match against Jon Moxley.
During the bout, Moxley took Fletcher to the top turnbuckle and executed a dragon suplex. Fletcher landed neck-first upon impact in a moment that concerned many watching. Despite the rough landing, Fletcher continued to wrestle but ultimately passed out to a rear-naked choke applied by Moxley, ending the match.
“Fletcher appears to be fine after being dropped on his head in the Moxley match last night,” Alvarez wrote regarding the situation.
Following the match, Fletcher shared frustration about his performance. He mentioned this was the second year in a row he failed to reach the finals of the tournament. He also voiced his displeasure regarding the screwdriver that Kazuchika Okada—who is also associated with the Don Callis Family—had used to advance to the finals.
“I keep saying that I’m going to go down as the greatest wrestler of all time but if I can’t get the job done when it matters, who cares?” Fletcher said. “That’s not even mentioning the screwdriver. Where was the screwdriver? That’s a lot of hard conversations I’m going to have to have.”
Jon Moxley went on to defeat Okada later in the night at Worlds End to win the Continental Classic and the Continental Championship. Looking ahead, AEW will present the Dynamite: New Year’s Smash special on December 31 live from the Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Omaha, NE.
