Erick Rowan recently did an interview with Lewis Nicholls to talk about his WWE release, which happened back in April as part of mass talent and staff firings due to budget cuts.
Rowan stated that he has thought about what’s next for him as he has some time to decide due to his non-compete clause not being up with WWE until July but wouldn’t share his plans.
The topic of potentially going to AEW was brought up as All Elite Wrestling is the second-biggest wrestling promotion in the United States. His former tag team partner, Brodie Lee (formerly known as Luke Harper), is under contract with AEW.
“I haven’t had any conversations. I’m still under a 90-day no-compete clause, yup. As far as something like that, yes, that would be awesome to be able to show your talents on a national level because they do have a contract through TNT.”
Rowan continued by noting how AEW has great exposure and have really good guys working for them. He put over AEW for giving wrestlers chances and noted he does watch the product.
He stated that he does find somethings entertaining while other things not so much with AEW’s product but acknowledged that all TV shows have a mixed bag.
“There are other guys on the independents that I’d love to work with. They have some big boys over at Impact, they’ve got some big boys over at ROH. That’s not even getting into overseas stuff. As far as AEW would go, for me and I think Brodie would say this as well, we need to stay the hell away from each other. Just keep finding each other somehow.”
Rowan added that he still talks with Lee and how he thinks Lee is doing some great things in AEW.
Rowan also talked about his latest push in WWE, his storyline with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan on SmackDown, and more. You can watch the entire interview by clicking on the player below:
