REPORT: AEW Star Expected To Have Interest From WWE When His Deal Is Up

Danhausen’s future with AEW is under discussion as his contract approaches expiration. A new report indicates that the popular star could be a free agent in the coming months, with significant interest from competitors.

Contract Status And WWE Interest

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Danhausen’s current deal is set to expire around February. Adding to the speculation, WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select spoke to sources within WWE who claim there will be interest in signing him once he becomes available. One source specifically outlined the belief that Danhausen “would thrive in the NXT setting.”

Recent Absence And Injury Time

Danhausen has not appeared on AEW television throughout 2025, though he has continued to work regularly on the independent circuit. The report states that he requested that injury time not be added to his AEW contract, which was originally supposed to expire this summer. This request suggests a desire to reach free agency without extending his current commitment to the company.

Danhausen last competed for AEW at the Worlds End pay-per-view in December 2023, where he participated in the battle royal on the Zero Hour pre-show. Since then, he has focused on independent bookings and appearances. AEW is currently preparing for its Worlds End event this Saturday, December 27, in Chicago, Illinois, where the company will close out its 2025 calendar.
